Santa Monica - Venice Beach
When my daughter was here visiting with me I took her down to Santa Monica and we walked the Pier. I decided instead of driving to Venice Beach which is a bit further down the street and having to find parking, we would just walk the distance on the beach. Well if you have ever done that it is quite a long walk. We thought we would never get to Venice Beach where we could sit down and have lunch on the water.
Along the way, immediately after leaving the pier, we came across the Chess Park. It was really quite interesting. Guys sitting in a designated area with game top tables playing chess. There were several games going on simultaneous. It appeared so freeing and so relaxing. On one side the beautiful city of Santa Monica and on the other side, the Pacific Ocean, can it get much better than that. These are the things that made my daughter fall in love with this place. Hell, it was why I fell in love with this place. People out and about doing what they want, doing what they do, doing what is making them happy at that moment.
