Missed Photo Opportunities Even When You are Present
I went out to Santa Monica Beach and the sun was high in the sky, which is not the best light for photography. However, there were still a few good photo opportunities and I missed the mark. I think laziness was the culprit. Not taking advantage of these opportunities was quite disappointing. The photos would have been a great deal better if I had just opened up the aperture. Instead I just used program mode and trying not to take photos in the direct sunlight and using the EV to make these photos better than just silhouettes.
The above photo of the parrot is a perfect example of a missed opportunity.
Now the photo below is another opportunity to make the photo more than just a snap shot. I was able to use the EV override to get a clearer shot, but again should have blurred the back ground by opening up the aperture.
Lessons learned the hard way. I was a bit afraid to open the aperture too much because of the bright sunlight, but I should have tried it. Not trying is the disappointment.
What else could have been done to make these photos better?
