Lots to Do

There has not been much photographing going on for the past few weeks, mostly because of the heat. Since I have resigned myself to public transportation, a bicycle, walking, and hopefully by the end of the year a scooter; it is just a little harder to get around. I can actually get anywhere pretty much that I want to, but I don’t do very well when it is extremely hot outside, especially carrying around camera equipment.

So I have been spending these weeks learning some of the programs that I am going to need to get my photography business going. I am learning Adobe CS3 along with just learning all of the hacks to the two operating systems for my Macintosh and PC. I need to learn how to make my workflow as efficient as possible.

I also just bought a beautiful Boegen tripod about two weeks ago and bought three Neutral Density Filters from the Lee filter system along with lens adaptors and foundation kit. There are quite a few other filters that I want, but I have not even used these yet. I am more interested in making a close to perfect photo in the camera as opposed to a great deal of post-production work. I am steadily trying to collect as much of the photography equipment as I need so I can have it when I am ready.

I plan to try to shoot photos of something daily when this weather cools off a bit. I believe that it is going to be soon. Right now I am reading all I can about other photographers and the business of photography as well as a great deal of technical advice.

I was even thinking today as I was walking to the grocery store in the neighborhood that I can start taking pictures around this neighborhood and just document the area that I live in. I am going to go out on my bike tomorrow and maybe I will just start there, start then.
